Most selling cars for middle class famlies

Top 5 selling cars in june 2023

Month after month, some of India’s most popular cars compete to emerge as the ultimate best seller. While some manage to make it to the top spots, others are sometimes taken off the charts. The best seller’s list is as volatile as the market itself, with each month painting a new picture. June was another rollercoaster, with Maruti Suzuki emerging as the winner, securing six out of the ten best-selling spots. SUVs shined as well, dominating more than half of the top ten spots. Here’s what the complete top-selling chart for June 2023 looked like.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR

When it comes to value-for-money hatchbacks, the WagonR is immortal. The jack of all trades for two decades, the WagonR was and continues to be one of India’s favourite hatchbacks. What makes the WagonR a massively popular hatchback is its impeccably frugal engine, classic tall boy looks, balanced ride quality and spacious interiors. Selling a massive 17,481 units in June 2023, the WagonR proudly bagged the numero uno spot despite a 9% decline in terms of year-on-year growth.

Powering the WagonR are two highly refined and efficient engines that include a 1.2-litre and a 1-litre unit, both of which come mated to a five-speed manual/AMT. What makes the WagonR a true success story is its impeccable efficiency of up to 25.19 km/l on petrol and 34.05 km/kg on CNG.

Maruti Suzuki Swift

Taking over the number two spot is the Maruti Suzuki Swift, a hatchback that has already wooed over 25 lakh happy Indians since 2005. The Swift’s exhilarating driving dynamics, power-packed engine and high efficiency make the hatchback a worthy choice for those looking to bring home a hatchback that feels swift on the road and light on the pockets. Selling 15,955 units in June 2023, the Swift became the second best-selling car of the month, despite a 2% decline in year-on-year growth.

With a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine onboard, the Maruti Suzuki Swift offers a five-speed manual and an optional AMT for a convenient ride. With mileage figures as high as 22.56 km/l for petrol and 30.90 km/kg for CNG, the Swift comes as a superb option, especially in the 6 to 10 Lakh price bracket, where it slays.

Hyundai Creta

With each month proving to be another success story for the Hyundai Creta, the SUV has witnessed undying popularity since its launch in 2015. Adorned with great comfort, premium interior, ample features and polarising looks, the Hyundai Creta has been one of Hyundai’s best-selling products in India. With 14,447 units sold, the Hyundai Creta became the third best-selling car and the number one best-selling SUV of the month, with a 12% growth over the 13,790 units the SUV sold in the same month last year.

Despite cut-throat competition already threatening the SUV’s reign, what makes the Hyundai Creta a massive success, is its value-for-money approach that offers a lot more for its price. Offering two peppy engine choices that now include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel, the Hyundai Creta comes with a six-speed manual along with an optional CVT for the petrol and a torque converter for the diesel.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno

With an exciting new generation boosting the hatchback’s sales, the Baleno’s popularity has reached new levels helping the hatchback secure the fourth best-selling spot. With 14,077 units sold, the Baleno outperformed several competitors despite a 13% decline in terms of year-on-year growth. The credit for Baleno’s recent success goes to its upgraded feature list that now includes a premium Arkamys sound system, heads-up display, 360-degree camera, along with bold new exteriors.

Equipped with a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno offers a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT automatic for a comfortable ride. All this comes topped with an impressive mileage figure of 22.94 km/l on petrol and 30.61 km/kg on CNG, making the Baleno a value-for-money hatchback.

Tata Nexon

Dethroning the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the Tata Nexon not only secured the fifth best-selling spot but also became the best-selling compact SUV of the month. An undisputed leader of its segment, the Tata Nexon offers best-in-class safety, reliability and practicality. Selling 13,827 units, Nexon, despite a 3% year-on-year decline, came out as a winner. Boasting a perfect 5-star safety rating, the Nexon is one of the few cars in India offered across petrol, diesel and even electric powertrains.

Equipped with either a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol or a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine, the Nexon comes mated to either a six-speed manual/AMT. The mileage figure on offer is up to 24.07 km/l for diesel and up to 17.33 km/l for petrol, making the Nexon a practical choice among the competitors. In its electric avatar, the Nexon comes with a 30.2 kWh battery pack (Nexon EV Prime) that returns a range of 312 km/charge and a 40.5 kWh version (Nexon EV Max) that returns a range of 453 km/charge.
